12 Laws of the Universe: How to Use Them to Live a Better Life

The universe is a big place. And, as anyone who’s ever looked up at the night sky can attest, it’s also pretty darn confusing.

So it’s no surprise that, over the centuries, humans have come up with all sorts of different theories about how everything works.

Some of these theories are supported by science, while others are decidedly more… metaphysical.

One of the latter is the belief that there are twelve laws that govern the universe, known as the 12 Laws of The Universe, or the 12 Universal Laws.

But where did this belief come from?

And what exactly are these twelve laws?

Key Takeaways

•The 12 Laws of the Universe are a set of principles that govern everything in the cosmos, from the behavior of subatomic particles to the development of galaxies.

• These laws are often compared to the laws of physics, but they are actually quite different. The 12 Laws explain why things work instead of just how things work.

• These laws offer a deeper understanding of the universe and our place within it

• The origin of the 12 laws is somewhat mysterious, but they are thought to date back thousands of years.

• By aligning our thoughts and actions with the principles of the universe, we can attract more abundance, joy, and success into our lives.

The Concept Of The 12 Laws Of The Universe

The 12 Laws of the Universe are a set of principles that govern everything in the cosmos, from the behavior of subatomic particles to the development of galaxies.

These laws are often compared to the laws of physics, but they are actually quite different, and while they do draw many similarities, they are also quite different.

While the laws of physics describe how the universe works, the 12 Laws of the Universe explain why it works that way.

In other words, they offer a deeper understanding of the cosmos and our place within it.

Where Did The 12 Laws Of The Universe Come From?

The origin of the 12 laws of the universe is somewhat mysterious.

We can draw connections to references of them in various traditional scripts.

One of the earliest known references to them is in an ancient Hindu text called the Rig Veda, which dates back to around 1500 BCE.

But it’s possible that they date back even further than that.

What we do know is that the beliefs surrounding these laws have evolved over time.

In the Rig Veda, they were seen as moral precepts that should be followed in order to live a harmonious life.

We see the teachings of Karma in Hindu and Buddhist practices which is closely related to the universal Law of Cause and Effect.

We also see references to concepts of these laws in the Bible with ideals such as ‘reap what you sow’ (the Law of Compensation) and in traditional Hawaiian practice of Ho’oponopono, a prayer for forgiveness and making things balanced within oneself (the Law of Correspondence).

But in more recent times, they’ve been viewed as more universal truths that govern everything from our personal relationships to the workings of the cosmos itself.

What Are The 12 Laws of the Universe

Well, honestly, that depends on who you ask.

There are various interpretations out there, as is to be expected when there are so many belief systems, cultures, and traditions at play.

But generally speaking, there are twelve laws that are most commonly referenced when people talk about the 12 Laws of the Universe.

The 12 Laws of the Universe are a set of principles that govern everything in the cosmos and by aligning our thoughts and actions with the principles of the universe, we can attract more abundance, joy, and success into our lives.

1 – The Law Of Divine Oneness

This is the first and most fundamental law of the universe.

The Law of Divine Oneness is the basic principle that we are all One with the Universe.

In other words, we are all connected.

Everything in the Universe is made of energy, and all energy is connected, and we are all connected to the same source of energy.

The Law of Divine Oneness reminds us that we are all One, and when we live in harmony with this law, we experience peace, love, and unity.

We are able to see the beauty in all things, and we are able to see the divinity in each other.

2 – The Law of Vibration

The law of vibration is one of the basic laws of the Universe. This law states that everything in the universe is energy and that energy vibrates at different frequencies.

The law of vibration also states that like attracts like.

This means that objects with similar frequencies are attracted to each other and objects with different frequencies are repelled from each other.

By surrounding ourselves with high-vibrational people and things, we raise our own vibration and improve our lives.

The law of vibration is also why meditation and affirmations work.

When you meditate, you slow down your brain waves and match the frequency of the Universe.

This allows you to receive guidance and insight from a higher level of consciousness.

When you say affirmations, you change your vibrational frequency and attract experiences that match your new frequency.

3 – The Law Of Correspondence

The Law of Correspondence is the belief that our outer physical reality reflects our inner mental and emotional state.

In other words, what we think and feel on the inside is mirrored in our outside experience.

This is why it’s so important to focus on positive thoughts and feelings if we want to create a positive life experience.

The good news is that we have control over our thoughts and feelings, so we can choose to focus on what we want more of in our lives.

When we do, the Universe will send us corresponding experiences, people, and opportunities to help us create the life of our dreams.

4 – The Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction is the belief that we attract what we think about, feel, and believe.

In other words, our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs create our reality.

If we want to attract more love into our lives, for example, we need to focus on thoughts and feelings of love.

If we want to attract more abundance, we need to focus on thoughts and feelings of abundance.

The law of attraction is one of the most powerful laws in the universe, and it’s always working, whether we’re aware of it or not.

When we understand how the law of attraction works, we can use it to our advantage and create the life we want.

5 – Law Of Inspired Action

The Law of Inspired Action is simple: take action and the universe will conspire to help you.

Basically, it means that if you want something, you have to work for it.

This is where a lot of people get caught up when it comes to manifesting, because they believe simply wanting something, and thinking about it is enough.

But action needs to be taken.

The inspired part comes in when your actions in alignment with your higher self, or your soul’s purpose.

When you take inspired action, you’ll find that doors start to open and opportunities present themselves.

It’s as if the universe is saying, “Okay, this person is serious about their goals, so let’s give them a little nudge.”

Of course, taking action doesn’t guarantee that you’ll achieve your goals overnight. But it does put you in alignment with the universe.

6 – Law Of Perpetual And Transmutable Energy

This law states that energy is never created or destroyed, it simply changes form.

This means that the energy we put out into the universe will come back to us in some way.

For example, if we put out positive energy, we will attract positive things into our lives.

On the other hand, if we put out negative energy, we will attract negative things.

The Law of Perpetual and Transmutable Energy is a powerful tool that we can use to create the life we want.

By focusing on putting out positive energy, we can attract more positivity into our lives and create the reality we desire.

7 – The Law of Cause and Effect

The Law of Cause and Effect is the belief that every action has a reaction, or to put it in alignment with Newton’s Third Law of Motion: every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Because we understand everything in the universe to be energy, and we know that energy cannot be created, only transferred, then we can see every action we take as a transference of energy.

One of my favorite ways to express this in an energetic and spiritual manner is the cause and effect of a smile.

Imagine you’re walking down the street and you see someone walking towards you, as your eyes meet, the other person smiles at you (cause). Without even thinking you smile in return (effect) and you have an instant boost in your mood (also effect).

The person who smiled at you, put positive energy out into the world, and the effect was an instant boost in your mood when that energy was transferred to you.

This is a great reminder to be aware of the energy we are putting out into the world, knowing that our thoughts, actions, words, and even beliefs have an effect on the world around us.

8 – The Law Of Compensation

The Law of Compensation is the belief that we will be compensated in proportion to what we bring to the world.

Similar to the Law of Cause and Effect, the Law of Attraction, and the Law of Vibration, this Law describes that we get back in return an equal value to which we give to the universe.

If we give out positive energy, we receive it back in turn. If we put out negative energy, that too then comes back to us in equal ways.

We hear this concept a lot in motivational quotes and sayings like ‘you only get out what you put in’, or Christian statements like ‘treat others how you wish to be treated’ or ‘you reap what you sow’.

9 – The Law Of Relativity

The Law of Relativity is one of the most widely misunderstood laws in the spiritual world.

To put it simply, the law states that everything is relative to something else.

In other words, there are no absolutes in the universe.

This may sound like a complicated concept, but it’s actually quite simple.

For example, take the concept of time. We experience time as a linear progression, moving from past to present to future.

However, time is actually a relative concept. It only exists in relation to other objects and events in the universe. Without something to compare it to, time would not exist.

This Law speaks to our perception of reality – the understanding that concepts like ‘good’ or ‘bad’ have no set meanings other than those we place upon them.

Take any box office movie for example (I know, a very simple example but it conveys the point). You can have a whole theatre full of people watching the same movie and every person will have a different review.

Some will say it was good, others will say it was bad, some will say it was the best movie ever, others will say it was difficult to follow and boring…

How we view something is based on our own perceptions – but learning to view something from a point of neutrality, or to see things from different perspectives, is a skill that encompasses an understanding of the Law of Relativity.

The concept of gratitude can be practiced here too, and being grateful for what you have and the abundance you have.

While it may not feel like a lot to you, if you have food in your fridge, clothes on your back, and a roof over your head, you’re richer than 75% of the world’s population (see… it’s all about perspective).

10 – The Law of Polarity

The Law of Polarity stats that there are two ends to everything, equal opposites, or polar opposites.

Experiencing and understandings these opposites is what allows us to appreciate and understand the experiences we have in life.

We wouldn’t appreciate joy and happiness if we didn’t know what sadness felt like.

We wouldn’t appreciate the feelings of abundance unless we had ever felt like we were lacking.

We wouldn’t appreciate satiety without hunger.

We wouldn’t appreciate the warmth of Summer without feeling the cold of Winter.

Likewise, it allows us to see that every problem has a solution, every dark night is followed by a sun-filled day, every low time comes to an end and we rise to the high times again.

This Law requires us to draw on our knowledge and experiences to help us to see in our present moment that things are always changing and moving, all experiences are on a spectrum and we can often experience the entire realm of that spectrum.

We can use this law as a form of encouragement (which works well with positive affirmations), and reminders that hard times do pass, dark is followed by light, and everything has an end that is replaced with new opportunities.

11 – The Law of Rhythm

Also known as the Law of Perpetual Motion, this law states that everything in the universe moves in cycles, patterns, or rhythms.

This Law can be seen in many areas of our lives, from the cycles and rhythms of the seasons, the tides, and even our breathing.

There is a natural ebb and flow to life, and this law helps to keep us in balance.

Just as the tides move in and out, so do our emotions, energy levels, and physical well-being.

When we are in alignment with the rhythm of the Universe, we can flow through life with ease.

However, when we resist the natural flow, we can create problems for ourselves.

The key is to learn to go with the flow and ride the waves of life. Trust that everything will work out in the end, and you’ll be able to surf the ups and downs with grace and ease.

12 – The Law of Gender

The Law of Gender is one of the spiritual universal laws that govern how energy manifests in our reality.

Simply put, the Law of Gender states that everything has both masculine and feminine energy. This includes people, animals, objects, and even ideas.

The masculine energy is active and focuses on outward expansion, while the feminine energy is passive and focused on inward growth.

This is why it’s often said that men are from Mars and women are from Venus – because we tend to embody different energies.

We all have both masculine and feminine energy within us and these energies must be in balance in order for us to lead happy and fulfilled lives.

The Law of Gender also explains why opposite energies attract each other. It’s because we are always seeking to balance our own energy.

So if you’re feeling a bit off-kilter, just remember that you can create your own harmony by seeking out someone with the opposite energy.

And if you’re ever feeling lost, just look inward – the answers you seek are always within you.

These laws may seem vague or confusing at first but they are actually very simple when broken down and applied to everyday life.

The 12 Laws of the Universe are a set of principles that govern everything in the cosmos and by aligning our thoughts and actions with the principles of the universe, we can attract more abundance, joy, and success into our lives.

How To Use The Laws Of The Universe In Everyday Life (Live A Better Life)

The laws of the universe are always at work, whether we’re aware of them or not.

But what if we could harness those same laws to create the life we want?

It turns out, we can!

By aligning our thoughts and actions with the principles of the universe, we can attract more abundance, joy, and success into our lives, thereby living a better life.

But remember, while knowledge itself is power having knowledge does nothing for us unless we take action on it (as per The Universal Law of Inspired Action)!

Here’s how to apply the concepts of these Laws into your everyday life so can start to reap their benefits:

1 – Visualize What You Want In Your Life

One way you can use the Universal Laws to help create a better life is to apply them to your goals.

Take time to visualize what it is you want in your life, what goals do you want to achieve? When you know what you’re aiming for, it’s much easier to attract it into your life.

So take some time to envision your ideal life, and be as specific as possible. Write it down, or create a vision board to keep yourself focused on your goal.

Apply different concepts of the Universal Laws to your goals and visualizations.

What energy/vibration do you need in order to attract this into your life?

Do you need to focus on masculine energy or feminine energy?

Where does this fit within the Law of Polarity or the Law of Transmutable Energy?

What Inspired Action do you need to take?

2 – Use These Laws To Help Increase Self-Awareness

Once you understand how these laws operate, you can use them to help increase your self-awareness.

By observing the world around you and your own thoughts and actions, you can start to see which universal laws are at play.

This will not only help raise your awareness but it will also give you a deeper understanding of how these laws work.

And the more you understand how the universe works, the better equipped you’ll be to create the life you want.

3 – Raise Your Vibration With Gratitude

One of the quickest and easiest ways to start attracting more positive things into your life is to raise your vibration with gratitude.

When you’re feeling grateful, you’re automatically putting yourself in a more positive state which makes it easier to attract more good things into your life.

So make it a point to focus on the things you’re grateful for each and every day. You can do this by keeping a gratitude journal or simply taking a few moments at the end of the day to reflect on what you’re thankful for.

4 – Get Into The Habit Of Giving

Another way to raise your vibration is to get into the habit of giving.

When you give, you’re automatically putting yourself in a more positive state and this makes it easier to attract more good things into your life.

This plays on the Law of Cause and Effect, as well as the Law of Compensation (among others).

So make it a point to do something nice for someone else each day, whether it’s buying them a coffee, giving them a compliment, or just doing something to make their day a little bit brighter.

5 – Live In The Present Moment

One of the best ways to use the Universal Laws to create a better life is to live in the present moment (easy to say, a lot harder to do).

Living in the present moment helps to align you with the energy of the universe, and when you’re in alignment with the universe, it’s easier to attract the things you want into your life.

So make it a point to focus on the present moment as much as you can throughout the day. This means putting away your phone, turning off the TV, and really being present in whatever it is you’re doing.

You can also try meditation or mindfulness practices to help you focus on the present moment.

When you’re able to focus on the present moment, you’ll find that it’s much easier to attract the things you want into your life.

6 – Focus On The Positive

Another way to use the Universal Laws to create a better life is to focus on the positive.

When you focus on positive thoughts and emotions, you’re much more likely to attract positive things into your life.

So make it a point to focus on the good in your life and let go of any negative thoughts or emotions that are holding you back.

7 – Follow Your Intuition

Following your intuition is a great way to improve your life.

Your intuition is your inner guidance system and it’s there to help you make the best choices for your life.

So if you ever feel like you’re unsure about something, take a moment to tune into your intuition and see what it has to say.

Connect with your state of flow, your connection with everything in the universe, your masuline and feminine energies, and see how they guide your intuition.

8 – Be Open To Possibilities

Another way to use the Universal Laws to create a better life is to be open to possibilities.

There are so many possibilities and opportunities out there in the world, and when we make a conscious choice to be open to these possibilities, the Universe provides them.

So make it a point to stay open-minded and be willing to try new things. You never know what might happen when you step out of your comfort zone.

9 – Take Responsibility For Your life

One of the most important things you can do to use the Universal Laws to create a better life is to take responsibility for your life.

When you take responsibility for your life, you have a much higher sense of self, a greater connection to all around you (Divine Oneness), and are more resilient to the highs and lows (Law of Polarity).

So make it a point to take control of your life and don’t let anyone else control it for you. You are the one who is responsible for your own life.

10 – Have Faith

Last but not least, one of the most important things you can do to use the Universal Laws to create a better life is to have faith.

Whether your faith is in God, a higher power, the Universe itself, or any other deity, having faith is always a good thing.

When you have faith, you’re automatically putting yourself in a more positive state which makes it easier to attract more good things into your life.

So make it a point to have faith in something and let it guide you through life. You’ll be surprised at how much better your life will become when you do.

Final Thoughts

Now that you know how to use the Universal Laws to create a better life, it’s up to you to put them into practice.

Start using these laws today and see how they can help you attract more good things into your life. You’ll be amazed at what’s possible when you start working with the Universe instead of against it.
